Best ever Chilli – Recipe

We love all things spicy in our house and we have had a long search for a chilli which appeals to everyone. We finally settled on this one which has a fantastic range of flavours coming from coffee, beer and loads of great spices.

We use Theakston’s Old Peculiar for the Beer (500ml bottle) and switched the Beef Broth for Heinz Oxtail Soup as the recipe is American I believe. We also let it slow cook for as long as possible.

We serve with home made nachos made from sandwich wrap style round flat breads cut into triangles and shallow fried in a frying pan. These are always a hit and so quick and cheap to make.

They tend to wipe the floor with shop bought nachos among our friends, but I can’t take credit for the method, a Mexican friend showed us. He also took and entire whole wrap and stuck it in a small deep fat fryer to create an edible bowl for the chilli, which is fantastic if you have access to one.

Best Cherry Bakewell – Recipe

My dad is obsessed with Bakewell Tart for some reason. As they help us out so much stopping over here and looking after the kids, I tend to make it about once a week.

Being a connoisseur of the art of the Bakewell, it took me a long time to find a recipe which matched his exacting standards, but we finally found this – and like the man from Del Monte – he finally said ‘yes’.

Anyway, its quick and easy – I always use ready made sweet pastry by Just-Rol available from ASDA to speed it up, but it does the job well.

Weekend Pancakes – Recipe

We love pancakes in our house, and after a long search for the perfect recipe, combining what you have in the cupboard, with ease of use and great taste, we finally settled on this fantastic recipe. Its a great fun recipe which the kids can make – Millie only likes cracking eggs however.

We add fresh blueberries or crispy bacon then add lots of maple syrup or honey. Click on the picture to view the recipe. It takes about 5 minutes and makes 5 decent sized delicious fluffy American style pancakes.

Hi! I’m Mick Stockton

Hi!

I’m Mick and I live at number 8. I like kayaking, climbing, walking, squash, skiing, boardgames, video games, photography and real ale. I come from Kendal in the lakes and I love getting back whenever I can. My parents still live there, but hope to move across here to see more of the grandkids.

I love cooking and baking and I really wish I had Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall’s life, but instead i love anything outdoors, and can think of no better place for access to the sea and countryside than Newcastle.

I’ve lived here for 20 years and met my wonderful wife CJ here when I used to be a DJ in nightclubs. I have over 2000 vinyl albums, and I like music, but have a new found love of Radio 4 and Radio 6.

I worked in video games, television, films, special effects and interactive for 10 years. I worked on the Harry Potter films, Slumdog Millionaire, Sunshine, Tomb Raider and many other great films, but at 40 I decided I wanted to do something worthwhile, and I had always wanted to be a teacher, so moved into higher education.

I am married to CJ, and we have two wonderful daughters, Millie and Daya and we live with our two cats – Colin (black) and Noodle (tabby).

I love living on Park View. It’s the best.

Welcome to The Park View

Featured

Hello, and welcome to the Park View, the online space about and for Park View, Wallsend.

We believe Park View is a very special street filled with fantastic neighbours, and so we thought it would be nice to have a space where we can all post ideas and thoughts about the wonderful homes we have here.

Everything is set up and ready to go. This is all free and it is up to you how you use it. You can post announcements, highlight events or just use it to store your own personal stories, thoughts or photographs. I have put some example posts in to give some idea of he kind of thing that can go in, from reviews, to local news, to who we are and what we like, and I can help with anything you want to do, and though I am by no means an internet expert, I am sure we can find a way together.

All you have to do is send me an email address to mick@blacklodge.co.uk and I will set you up as a member of the site.

If you have any issues, just drop me a line at the above email and I will do what I can to help. I will also try to put up some ‘how-to’s to show you how to do things if you can tell me what you need.

We hope you like it and get some use out of it. It would be lovely if it brings everyone together to make Park View and even better place to live. We would love to hear from you.

Thanks!

Mick, CJ, Millie and Daya (Number 8 – Park View)
