Congratulations to Gary Taylor from number 13 who completed an epic charity cycle ride from Berwick on Tweed to Newcastle – a full 65 miles (edit) 93 miles – this Saturday!
Gary managed to cycle from The Free Trade Pub in Berwick to The Free Trade Pub in Newcastle (coincidence, obviously). Now I like a drink as much as the next man, but that’s just showing off. I checked this on GoogleMaps and it’s 63 miles! Did you have a few before setting off Gary?
The Free Trade Newcastle has a huge amount of awards for its fantastic guest ales and location including being voted ‘Best Pub View in Britain’ thanks to its epic vista’s over the Tyne taking in all the central bridges. They have a fantastic couple of beer gardens and are pet and child friendly.
A really great pub and a perfect destination should you find yourself thirsty, 65 miles (edit) 93miles away from Newcastle and in need of destination (or if you are a normal person, just to watch the sun go down over the Tyne Bridge).
Macmillan Cancer Support do so much for cancer patients and families, and it it is a great thing Gary has done. I am sure everyone will join me in congratulating him in his achievement. You can support Gary’s journey at JustGiving here. Gary is aiming for a total of £300 and is getting very close so any help is much appreciated.
If anyone else has a charity event coming up – just let me know – I can help create a ‘JustGiving’ account so you can get on line support for your charity if you need.
WELL DONE GARY!!!!! 65 miles is a long way to go for a pint.
